2019 Colour Trends You'll Want To Try
The New Year is officially upon us, and that means a fresh batch of hair colour trends are set to hit our Instagram and Facebook feeds. Get ahead of the game and experiment with your hair colour this year. Think new year, new you.
Pink Balayage
Pink Balayage
Balayage is a freehand technique that has softer, less noticeable regrowth lines than traditional highlights. Previously, balayage focused on natural hues but experts predict that pinks and purples will become a popular balayage choice for 2019. Pastel hues dotted the Marc Jacobs Spring 2019 runway, with models rocking a soft, cotton-candy pink that arguably stole the show. Brighten up the drab winter months and inject a bit of colour into your life! 'The great thing about balayage is you can be daring or natural, it works for both. Pink is a super fun option if you want to experiment and be adventurous with semi-permanent colour, as it suits most skin types'- Ellen, Colourist at Portishead.
White Blonde
If you’ve experimented with platinum blonde but aren’t quite ready to part with your signature hue, white blonde is your new calling card. The inspiration behind this shade is the sun-brightened, natural streaks you'd find on surfers. Bleach blonde need not be Malibu Barbie-esque, it can at once have a rock and roll bad girl appeal and sun-bleached surfer girl vibes. Opt for pale blonde tones rather than pure icy to achieve this look.
Chocolate Brown and Copper
Following 2018’s obsession with rich, fiery hues, you can expect to see a spike in more subdued copper tones come 2019. Classic brown will be enhanced with all-over copper highlights for a look that gives the illusion of sun-kissed hair, without it looking unnatural. With its warm base, it appeals to most skin tones and looks luscious and shiny when coloured properly. 'I love that we are starting to see more of the auburn and copper colours coming through. They're a great introduction to the ombre or balayage look for anyone looking to make a subtle change'- Beth, Stylist at Long Ashton.
Strawberry Honey
This season we will be seeing a golden take on more traditional red colour looks, with copper taking a backseat and giving way to more blonde hues. Think of this look as the perfect middle ground between golden blonde and vibrant copper. This hair colour flatters lighter skin tones and with plenty of dimension and shine, this creamy shade is the subtle way to tiptoe into red without fully committing.
